The hansa command line client
hansa is a stateless command line client for your HansaChat workspace. It is
built for scripts, automation, and AI agents: every command prints dependable
JSON by default, and commands converge on the state you ask for — running the
same command twice will not duplicate anything, except sending messages, which
is always a new message by design.
The CLI talks to your workspace through the same web address as the browser
app (https://<workspace-domain>/api); you never configure ports or API
paths. Point it at your workspace domain, for example yourworkspace for
yourworkspace.hansa.chat, and it does the rest.
Install with one command
curl -fsSL https://downloads.hansachat.com/cli/install.sh | sh
The installer detects your platform (macOS or Linux, Intel or Apple Silicon),
verifies the download checksum, and installs the binary to ~/.local/bin.
Override the directory with HANSA_INSTALL_DIR.
You can also download the archive directly from the downloads page
and extract the hansa binary yourself.
Your first commands
# Log in to a workspace (prompts for email and password)
hansa chat login --workspace yourworkspace
# Confirm who you are
hansa chat whoami
# Explore
hansa chat channels list
hansa chat messages list --channel general
--workspace accepts a short name (yourworkspace becomes yourworkspace.hansa.chat) or a full
domain. After the first successful login it becomes the saved default, so you
can omit the flag afterwards. Switch the default with hansa context use.
