Working offline

Basements, underground car parks, old buildings: reception is not a given. HansaChat therefore works with a deliberately honest offline mode.

What works offline

• Download the work pack: the shifts of the day (checklists, instructions) sit on the device once loaded — usable for up to 24 hours.
• Tick steps: Done, Blocked (with reason) and Notes are stored locally on the device and transferred later.
• Honest display: Today shows "You are offline — saved shifts" and a counter of changes not yet synced.

What does not work offline

• Uploading photos — evidence photos need network. The step stays saved and waits for transfer.
• Submitting and review — these steps run online so no false "finished" states can occur.
• Seeing new shifts or sites — the work pack covers the assigned day.

Synchronization

As soon as the network returns (or the app comes back to the foreground), changes are transferred automatically in order:

• The server re-checks authorization, state and version on every transfer.
• If somebody else worked on the same step in between, the last write does not silently win: you see the current state and can follow up.
• The device deletes the work pack after 24 hours, on logout and when access is removed.

Limits (honesty first)

• Browser storage can be evicted by the operating system. The app says so when data is missing — it never claims to be offline-proof.
• A switched-off device cannot be reached remotely: access ends at the next online contact.
