Announcements answer the question "Who has seen the current version?" — with an honest view tracking.
What counts as "viewed"
An announcement counts as viewed when the heading and the beginning of the text were visible for one continuous second while the app was in the foreground and focused. Scrolling past, previews, notifications or "mark all as read" do not count. Multiple devices still produce exactly one "viewed" per person.
View tracking is a technical signal — not proof that the content was understood or agreed to.
Versions
- When an announcement is edited, a new version is created. View tracking restarts at zero; the app shows the crew "Updated — not yet viewed".
- Views of old versions stay attached to the old version.
- Someone who joins the channel later does not count retroactively for old announcements — only from the next update onwards.
The summary
Publishers see a compact summary below their announcement:
- Viewed — count and list.
- Active, not viewed — channel members who have not seen the current version yet.
- No longer active — people who have since left the channel (visible in the history, but no longer actionable).
Example: "12 viewed · 3 active not viewed · 1 no longer active."
Privacy
- Only publishers of the channel and workspace administrators with channel access may inspect individuals — never colleagues among themselves.
- Before first activation the crew is informed that announcement views are visible to the site lead.
- Detailed views are retained for 90 days during the pilot; afterwards the UI shows "History expired" instead of a zero.
