Download HansaChat

HansaChat works in a modern browser and is available as an installed app for desktop and mobile devices. The downloads page recommends an option for your current device and lists every supported platform.

Web app

Open your workspace URL in a modern browser. Your workspace URL usually looks like https://your-workspace.hansa.chat.

The web app is the fastest way to start because there is nothing to install.

macOS

The direct macOS download supports Apple Silicon and requires macOS 12 or later.

1. On the downloads page, choose Download DMG (Apple Silicon). You can also install HansaChat from the App Store.
2. Open the downloaded DMG.
3. Drag HansaChat into the Applications folder.
4. Open HansaChat from Applications. A normal first-open confirmation from macOS is expected.

The direct DMG is signed with a Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and stapled for Gatekeeper verification.

Windows

The Windows installer supports 64-bit Windows 10 or later.

1. Download the MSI from the downloads page.
2. Open the downloaded installer.
3. Confirm that Windows identifies the publisher as HansaChat, then follow the installation steps.
4. Open HansaChat from the Start menu.

The MSI is digitally signed. Windows SmartScreen may still show an additional confirmation while a new release builds download reputation.

Linux

The Linux download is a 64-bit executable.

1. Download the Linux file from the downloads page.

2. Make the file executable in your terminal:

   chmod +x ~/Downloads/hansachat-v*-linux-amd64.bin
   

3. Open the file from your desktop environment or run it from the terminal.

Android

1. Open the HansaChat listing in Google Play from the downloads page.
2. Choose Install.
3. Open HansaChat when installation finishes.

iOS

1. Open the HansaChat listing in the App Store from the downloads page.
2. Choose Get.
3. Open HansaChat when installation finishes.

Verify a direct download

The downloads page publishes a SHA-256 checksum for every direct desktop download. Compare it with the downloaded file before installation when you need to verify file integrity.

• macOS: shasum -a 256 /path/to/download.dmg
• Windows PowerShell: Get-FileHash C:\path\to\download.msi -Algorithm SHA256
• Linux: sha256sum /path/to/download.bin

The calculated value must exactly match the checksum shown on the downloads page. Download the file again if it does not match.

Next step

After opening HansaChat, enter your workspace address and sign in. If your workspace was just created, you can also use the magic login link from the setup email.
