Announcement channels are ordinary channels with a posting rule: only named people may post, everybody else reads.
What they are for
- "The main entrance code changes this evening."
- "From Monday we start at 07:00."
- "New waste separation at the North Station site."
The crew sees one clear stream of instructions — without discussion below. Questions go through the normal site chat or a direct message ("Contact the site lead").
Creating and converting
- When creating a channel you choose the kind next to visibility: Conversation or Announcements.
- Administrators can convert existing channels into announcement channels (with a preview of who may then publish) — and back.
- Site announcement channels are created automatically as announcement channels; site leads automatically receive the publishing right.
Publishing and reading
- May publish: explicitly named publishers and workspace administrators. Site supervisors are automatically publishers of the site announcement channel.
- May read: all channel members — including translations and view tracking.
- Not possible for readers: sending, replies, reactions, files, typing indicators, calls in the announcement channel — enforced server-side, including CLI and integrations.
