Product Updates

All the latest updates, improvements, and fixes to HansaChat.

1.1.7 Latest Workspace Imports and Cleaner Notifications

New Features

  • Paid workspaces can now import conversation history from Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Mattermost, Rocket.Chat, and Zulip, including channels, messages, original timestamps, threads, reactions, and user attribution where available

Bug Fixes

  • Changing notification settings no longer causes repeated saves and screen jumping, and your own sent messages no longer reappear as unread
  • Uploaded workspace archives now always reach the import process reliably, instead of failing when different production servers handle the upload and background work

1.1.6 Background Notifications on Android and macOS

New Features

  • Android can now receive notifications while a workspace is not open, and macOS shows unread activity in the Dock

Improvements

  • The cookie consent banner now appears immediately on mobile, with both choices arranged in one clear row

1.1.5 Smarter Mentions and More Reliable Desktop Chat

New Features

  • Mentions now use unique generated handles and display people's current names after they rename their profile
  • macOS keeps notifications active when the app is hidden in the tray

Bug Fixes

  • Native macOS and Android apps can sign in again, and repeated Google sign-ins no longer fail because an earlier callback was reused
  • Notification quiet hours now follow the device's local timezone, while reactions no longer create phantom unread counts
  • Switching saved workspaces on desktop now loads messages and people correctly, and mentions still notify you when the active channel is hidden
  • Workspace exports now contain public channels only, keeping private-channel history out of the archive

Improvements

  • Mention suggestions clearly show the selected person and support arrow-key navigation before insertion

1.1.4 Hardened Security, Two Mac versions Downloads, and a Smoother Chat

New Features

  • The Mac desktop app now comes in two versions - one for Apple Silicon and one for Intel Macs - so every Mac runs HansaChat natively at full speed
  • You can upgrade to a paid plan directly from inside the chat: a new upgrade button takes you straight to the right plan
  • New users choose their own password while creating a free workspace - no waiting for a password email
  • A redesigned sidebar keeps channels, search, and tools one click away: Activity and notifications sit at the top, settings and theme (light or dark) live in one place, and your plan is always visible
  • A new support page replaces email: sign in and submit bug reports or feature requests as tracked tickets, with an email copy of every request for your records
  • An improved invitation flow with clearer steps for bringing teammates into a workspace

Bug Fixes

  • Realtime updates now work more reliably for few more edge-cases - messages and presence appear instantly
  • Invitation links can no longer be accepted by whichever account happens to be signed in - the invited person is the one who joins
  • Signing in with a wrong password shows a clear error, invalid workspace names explain what to change
  • Workspace welcome emails no longer contain an initial password
  • Shared images open in a preview instead of downloading immediately, search results show channel names instead of internal IDs, and chats reliably scroll to the newest message
  • Call participants see the participant count update live, archived channels explain where the conversation went, and the mobile menu displays correctly

Improvements

  • Security hardening across the board after an independent audit: safer password resets, stronger two-factor authentication and session handling, and tighter file-download protections - including a fix for a forgotten-password flaw that could have exposed accounts (in http server logs)
  • Chat stays fast and responsive under heavy load thanks to redundant realtime and caching infrastructure
  • AI assistants can discover accurate, up-to-date HansaChat information through a public llms.txt guide
  • The sidebar got a better design and feels less crowded

0.3.12 Workspace Data Export

New Features

  • Workspaces on paid plans can now export their full history: every public and private channel with threads, reactions, mentions, and users, delivered as a Slack-compatible ZIP archive that common import tools such as Mattermost, Rocket.Chat, or Zulip can read directly - your data stays portable and there is no vendor lock-in
  • Exports run in the background: request one from the workspace dashboard, and receive an email with a download link when the archive is ready; downloads stay available for seven days and each workspace can request one export per day

Improvements

  • The website now explains data ownership and export options in the trust section, the security page's data-portability note, and the Slack alternative FAQ
